Self-Love for Event Profs

Wellness expert Lucy Eden, founder of Be In Your Element, shares thoughts on this year’s Stress Awareness Month #LeadWithLove theme!

Prioritising Well-Being While Delivering Amazing Events

Event professionals are known for their ability to create magic, turning visions into reality, crafting seamless experiences, and ensuring every detail is executed flawlessly. But in an industry that thrives on high energy and constant motion, self-care often takes a backseat. With long hours, tight deadlines, and the pressure to always be “on,” burnout is a real challenge and Self-Love for Event Profs is so important.

As we observe Stress Awareness Month 2025, and embrace the theme “Lead with Love,” it’s time to extend that love inward. Prioritising well-being isn’t just about avoiding burnout; it’s about thriving, sustaining creativity, and bringing your best self to every event.

Why Self-Love Matters for Event Professionals

  1. Prevents Burnout and Enhances Longevity

Event planning is ranked as one of the most stressful professions. Ignoring self-care leads to exhaustion, affecting not only your health but also the quality of your work. Embracing self-love means setting boundaries, taking breaks, and recognising when to slow down.

  1. Boosts Creativity and Problem-Solving

When you’re constantly running on empty, it’s hard to think outside the box. Rest and relaxation refresh the mind, allowing you to approach challenges with renewed perspective and innovation.

  1. Enhances Leadership and Team Dynamics

A well-balanced leader fosters a healthier, more positive team culture. When you prioritise your own well-being, you set an example, creating an environment where team members feel empowered to do the same.

  1. Improves Event Execution

Stress and exhaustion lead to mistakes. Being well-rested and present ensures that you can problem-solve efficiently, maintain attention to detail, and deliver outstanding experiences.

Practical Ways to Practice Self-Love as an Event Prof

Schedule “Non-Negotiable” Me Time: Just as you schedule client calls and vendor meetings, schedule time for yourself, whether it’s a morning walk, a workout, or simply an hour of quiet reflection.

Set Boundaries: Protect your personal time by setting realistic work limits. Communicate your availability clearly and avoid the pressure of being always accessible.

Incorporate Mindfulness into Your Routine: Whether it’s deep breathing exercises before a big event, meditation, or mindful walking, small moments of presence can make a big impact.

Prioritise Sleep and Nutrition: Late nights are common in the event world, but adequate rest and proper nutrition fuel both body and mind for sustainable success.

Leading Events with Love Starts with You

When you lead with love, that love must start with yourself. Prioritising self-care doesn’t mean doing less, it means doing better, with more energy, passion, and joy. By embracing self-love, event professionals can continue to create incredible experiences without sacrificing their own well-being.

So, as you plan, design, and execute amazing events, remember: You are just as important as the events you create.
