Crispins’ Weekly Choice – ‘Earth Hour’ Dining
Stock up on candles and buy in the environmentally conscious food stuffs, as this Saturday marks the tenth anniversary of ‘Earth Hour’ a time when people in more than 170 countries across the world, turn off their lights in solidarity to show they care about protecting our wonderful planet.
Last year an amazing 10.4 million people took part across our fair isle (UK), a record which many are hoping will be broken on 19th March between 8.30pm – 9.30pm for ‘Earth Hour 2016’.
Throughout the country thousands will dine by candlelight to mark the occasion but for those wanting an easy life, or who just don’t trust their own cooking, Lord Crispin has highlighted some of the best restaurants in London (taking part in Earth Hour) to dine in style while still doing your bit to save the planet.
CANDELIT RESTAURANTS:
An underground semi-circular cave carved from bedrock, Gordon’s is completely lit by candlelight making it the perfect retreat to observe Earth Hour while tucking yourself away to sample their amazing wine and cheese list.
Often rated at the top of many a ‘most romantic restaurants list’, Gordon’s is widely considered to be the oldest wine bar in London. Established in 1890 it has seen the likes of Rudyard Kipling and G.K. Chesterton frequent its cave style restaurant.

The Wright Brothers is an Oyster house based in the foodie famous, Kingly Court. The menu offers an extensive array of oysters from the British Isles and France, cooked and presented with a variety of interesting flavours.

No. 32 The Old Town is an independent neighbourhood bar and restaurant south of the river that draws inspiration from the local area, its people and its sense of fun. Sharing plates are all the rage and they have a late license on Saturday’s for those wishing to party until the wee hours.
